The Foundation underwrites the entire program and produces qualified teachers, guest lecturers and all of the equipment required for film production and post-production. In addition, donations finance the students' projects. In Media Arts 1, the class, working as a team, creates and produces a major dramatic film and several smaller projects like public service announcements, music videos or experimental assignments. In Media Arts 2, we emphasize independent study and each student writes, produces, directs and edits his or her own film. The Foundation funds field trips to professional film productions so the students can experience the real world of media arts. And, our status as a "School to Work" program allows the Foundation to award students modest scholarships and other financial incentives for their work.
MAPS has been featured on television (ABC/CBS), radio (NPR), national magazines (THE AMERICAN SCHOOL BOARD JOURNAL) and local, state and national newspapers. Peter Rosten, a twenty-five year veteran of the entertainment industry, is the President of the Foundation. To make a tax deductible donation, click here .
